China Huaneng Power International Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huaneng Power International") Established in 1978, originally the Power Machinery Manufacturing Bureau of the Ministry of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Huaneng Group Corporation after the 2002 power system reform.

Over the years, Huaneng Power International has continuously improved its development quality, forming a three-legged industrial structure of products, investment, and engineering, and has built four core business segments: high-end equipment and system engineering, environmental protection and water conservancy, power plant investment and construction, and clean energy. Its business spans across the country and regions such as Southeast Asia, Europe, America, and Australia.

Project Overview

CGN Ningdong Clean Energy Hydrogen Production Project This is an important new energy project of China General Nuclear Power Group in Ningdong Energy and Chemical Base, Ningxia, aiming to utilize renewable energy to produce green hydrogen, promoting energy structure transformation and achieving carbon neutrality goals.

Ningxia Ningdong Energy and Chemical Base is a national key energy and chemical base, traditionally dominated by coal-based chemical industry. In recent years, it has accelerated its transformation to clean energy, and green hydrogen has become one of the key paths for its low-carbon development. As a leading Chinese clean energy giant, CGN actively deploys the hydrogen energy industry chain, and the Ningdong project is an important part of its green hydrogen demonstration in Northwest China.

Project Pain Points

Water electrolysis hydrogen production will generate a large amount of waste heat. During the electrolysis process, when electrical energy is converted into the chemical energy of hydrogen and oxygen, about 20-30% of the energy is released in the form of heat. Electrolysis efficiency is sensitive to temperature; excessively high temperatures can damage equipment or reduce efficiency, requiring a cooling system to maintain the optimal operating temperature.

Solution

Tyacht successfully delivered 2 units to Huaneng Power International TMC induced draft mixed flow closed-circuit cooling tower and supporting equipment including fans, spray tanks, electronic descaling instruments, spray pumps, automatic air valves, electric heating antifreeze facilities, and distribution boxes, used for CGN Ningdong Clean Energy Hydrogen Production Project

The TMC induced draft mixed flow closed-circuit cooling tower adopts a fully enclosed circulating system This prevents the cooling water from directly contacting the outside air, effectively preventing dust and impurities from entering, protecting water quality, meeting the high-purity requirements of the electrolyzer for cooling water, and reducing the risk of scaling and corrosion.

This cooling tower is water-saving and environmentally friendly with no evaporative loss, effectively adapting to the water-scarce climate characteristics of Ningxia, where the project is located, while also reducing the project's water pressure.

The cooling tower's heat exchanger uses a serpentine coil structure The counter-current flow of air and water inside and outside the coil ensures optimal heat exchange efficiency.

The cooling tower's fan system uses a V-belt drive, and an IP55 motor. The fan and motor are far away from the high-temperature and high-humidity outlet, greatly extending the service life of the fan and motor

The cooling tower has convenient internal maintenance passages This helps customers quickly troubleshoot problems and achieve true real-time monitoring. The cooling tower ladder and the top guardrail effectively ensures the personal safety of maintenance and inspection personnel, while facilitating motor and fan replacement.

This cooperation represents in-depth collaboration between Tyacht and Huaneng Power International in the field of new energy equipment. It not only applies cooling technology to the hydrogen energy industry but also sets a new benchmark for energy efficiency optimization in clean energy projects under the "dual carbon" goal.

Driven by innovation, Tyacht strives to be a provider of clean energy cooling technology and a co-creator of zero-carbon solutions. With the rapid development of the green hydrogen industry, Tyacht will continue to contribute to China's energy structure transformation with technology and contribute Chinese wisdom and solutions to global carbon neutrality.
