Open cooling towers are a common type of cooling equipment, widely used in industrial production and air conditioning systems. Their working principle is to spray hot water onto packing material, forming a water film that exchanges heat with the air, thereby cooling the hot water. Air is drawn in by a fan, flowing upward and making contact with the water film in reverse, taking away the heat and evaporated moisture from the water, thus achieving the cooling effect.
Working Principle
Open cooling towers spray circulating water onto fiberglass packing in a mist form, allowing the water to come into contact with air for heat exchange. The fan drives the airflow within the tower, expelling the heated air that has exchanged heat with the water, thus achieving the cooling effect.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages:
● Simple structure: The construction of open cooling towers is relatively simple, with lower costs.
● Good cooling effect: They can meet the needs of most industrial production and air conditioning systems.
● Wide applicability: Especially suitable for scenarios requiring large flow cooling.
Disadvantages:
● Water quality is easily contaminated: Due to direct contact between water and air, it is prone to contamination and requires regular cleaning and maintenance.
● Significant water loss: A large amount of moisture evaporates during operation, necessitating continuous replenishment of fresh water, leading to waste of water resources.
● Relatively noisy: Due to the fan motor and blades being exposed to the air, the noise during operation is relatively high.
